I am a professional tutor with a bachelor's degree and a master's degree. I currently tutor college-level students, many of whom are challenged in some way; therefore, I have a great deal of experience creating lessons and methods that are outside the norm. I have discovered these methods work incredibly well with those who are not challenged, as well. I am patient with my students (I am a mom of five and grandma of seven.), and diligent with the task at hand. Though I have worked with students who were limited in their capabilities, I have never encountered a situation where I could not teach a student to his/her highest level of comprehension.
Though I currently work with adult students, I have a great deal of experience with students of all ages.
My rates would vary per person if I were tutoring a small group. It is often beneficial for two or three students to share tutoring sessions. I have had a great deal of success with small groups because one student is often able to articulate that which another is not. I have also realized that parents are more able to afford reduced pricing for small-group sessions as opposed to individual sessions. I also offer small-group sessions "online" in real time. The student(s) actually see a person and can interact.
Informally, I have been "giving lessons" to students of all ages for more than 30 years; however, as a "formal professional tutor," I have worked with more than 200 students in a one-on-one capacity for about seven years. It would be difficult to count the total number of students I have taught. My students have always been successful in their pursuits, or I have been able to direct them toward new avenues when their "goal" was not possible.
