About the lesson
History is often the bane of many students existence, simply because they have been taught it in an outdated format. I teach history like a story, focusing on major themes and actors rather then dates. My classes include a variety of differentiated introduction techniques, such as the use of music to teach about the factors of Confederation, or image analysis while discussing settlement of western Canada. The big seven historical teaching principles always influence my lessons, as they have been proven to provide superior connections and engagement for students. All the while, I try to make as many connections to today's news and events, as a way of connecting the distant past to your students own life.
Although I an intermediate (7-12) teach candidate, these classes are for anyone!

About Paige
I have a Bachelor of Arts from Trent University in history, where I focused my degree on Medieval and Renaissance studies. I have just completed my first year of my Bachelor of Education at Trent University, with the teachables of History and Indigenous Studies. During this time I have received a high 80 average, and completed three in class room placements. These included a literacy tutoring placement for two students with special needs, and a grade 8 placement where I created unique and engaging lessons for 6 weeks on Confederation and the Expansion of Western Canada. Beyond this experience, I have worked with youth from a variety of social and cultural backgrounds through volunteer work.
