The foundation of a good player starts with the basics. Despite its simple title, basics, when tought properly, equips starters with the skillset and mentality required to strive through further training. How to grip the racket in all positions, essential footwork, reflexes and stretches that will accompany players through a long relationship with badminton.
I am a cegep student who has started playing badminton at 8 years old. I was coached by my father who is a certified level 2 coach, and was part of Pierrefonds' club as a child. Though most of my training was done individually with my coach, playing with high school team and recently at BMBA (Brendon Morgan's Badminton Academy) has tought me a few techniques young starting players should pick up at the start of their athletic career.
