Similar to how I run my classes, I would create sessions that have structure and consistency. However, I feel it is equally important to respect the student - strengths, needs, and interests. I work hard to be adaptive and creative with my programming to show that I respect the student and to help the student reach their potential and/or goal.
I am a certified primary/junior teacher that has been teaching over 10 years. I have worked as a junior teacher for several years, specifically grade 5 and 6. So, I am knowledgeable of EQAO. The rest of my expertise is in Special Education - individualized teaching and learning is my specialty.
The rates are based on tutoring one person. If it is a group, rates will vary and will be negotiated with the family, based on needs. If the tutoring session is more homework support than teaching, than prices can be negotiated.
Sessions that focus on developing language skills are very dependent on the student. Their strengths, needs, and interests are all important factors that need to be considered when developing the programming of the session. That being said, I would generally work to integrate all aspects of language into each session: Reading skills (decoding and comprehension), speaking skills (listening and talking), and writing skills (spelling and sentence/paragraphs).
