About Franco

Hey! My name is Franco, I am 18 years old, and I am an international student from Peru with Japanese roots, currently studying Business Management in the University of Sussex.

In all honesty, I am not very different from you all. (hopefully) my future students. I am a teenager who likes gaming, sports (particularly contact sports) and currently getting into stocks.

Obviously, part of me wanting to teach is for financial reasons, however, its not only that. I think that the satisfaction of watching your students grow and become better and better is unmeasurable and cannot be described in another way. I believe that learning a language or any other skill actually, is much more than just that because of the immense number of other skills that you acquire with it.

I like to represent it as a tree that if taken care of properly it branches out and gets bigger. When learning a skill, such as learning Spanish, you are also able to acquire values such as perseverance, tolerance, empathy and many more. Which are values that stick with you for the rest of your life, allowing you to take opportunities that you might otherwise not have taken.

About the lesson

When teaching Spanish, I like to divide my classes into two segments (each 30 minutes). The first part consist on fundamentals, linguistics and understanding. I believe that although, linguistics could be often deemed as boring or "text book questions" a good understanding of the core of a language is needed to be able to practice it.

The second part of my classes consist on the actual application of the knowledge learned in the first part of the class into real-life scenarios. In order to do so, I like to question my students by having actual conversations with them. Nevertheless, this is not rigid, as a tutor I believe that is my duty to find the appropriate method for each and every one of my students. My students are always backed up with positive reinforcement, as morale is very important in order to perform well, especially in hard tasks, like learning a language.

My qualifications:
- Spanish and English classes for primary/secondary students in my school as my CAS project (International Baccalaureate)
- More than a satisfactory result in Spanish High Level (International Baccalaureate)
