Poetry Competitions in Canada

Poetry Competitions in person aren't as popular as competitions online, but there are many in Canada. However, we did want to mention some of Canada's biggest poetry competitions that you can work towards as you continue to write poetry. Most of these competitions happen every year.

CBC Poetry Competiton - They hold an annual poetry completion for anyone that is a resident in Canada. They're looking for unpublished poems with a max word count of 600 words. The winner will win a two-week residency at the Banff Centre, have their poem be published in CBC books and take home $6000. There is a 25.00 entry fee, but it can be well worth the price.

RBC Poetry Competiton - There looking for 5-10 pages of unpublished poetry. Their grand prize is $10,000, and runners-up can expect to take home $2500. The competition was created to help writers can recognization and help them excel in their poetry endeavours.
