Rachel McAdams Story

Rachel McAdams was born in London Ontario on Nov 17, 1978. Her father was a mover and her mother was a nurse. Rachel was into stardom at a young age. She realized she had a passion for acting at the age of 12. She was with her mother one day and saw a children's theatre group performance. She insisted she had to be in or else she would die. Her parents always supported her dreams, so this was something they allowed Rachel to do. In high school, she acted in many local productions. In her university years, she studied theatre at York University.

Her first television performance was in 2001 working on a Disney series. Just one year later she was in her first film My Name is Tanino. In the same year of 2002, she got the role of Supporting actor in Perfect Pie. Rachel was then nominated for a Genie Award. Rachel's career was starting to take off. She moved to Los Angles and was cast in The Hot Chick. It was her first debut in a United States movie.

A few years later Rachel starred in the Mean Girls in 2004. This has been a classic for everyone around the world. Mean girls opened a lot of doors for McAdams. In the same year, she had a lead role in The Notebook. Rachel has always been one to stay true to herself. She doesn't take roles for the money or fame she does them for herself. She took a break from Hollywood in 2006 and 2007. She stated she wants to focus on herself. During this time she even turned down movies such as Mission Impossible 3, Casino Royale and Get Smart. Rachel noted she wasn't going to make movies to make movies she wants to be passionate about everything she does.

Since 2008 making a return to Hollywood Rachel has starred in numerous shows and movies. She’s an amazing actor and has won many awards. Her biggest achievement was in 2012 starring in The Vow. The movie did over 190 million worldwide. Rachel has always been in the spotlight ever since she was a kid. Before acting at the age of 12 she was a competitive figure skater. It’s this determination and hard work instilled from her parents that has led Rachel to become a great Canadian actor.

What Can We Learn From Rachel McAdams?

As an actor, you have to put in the work to be successful and Rachel McAdams is a true testament to that. She’s always been able to put in the work. Rachel also teaches us that you should passionate about your acting roles. You shouldn't be in the industry to only make movies, you want to be passionate about the roles your taking. Making movies just to make movies can drain you. If you want to be in this industry a long time you have to realize when it’s time to take breaks and when it's time to push on.
