I believe language-learning should be a collaborative and personalized experience, so my lessons are interactive and dynamic. Instead of simply being lectured, you will be actively engaged during class. Moreover, classes are tailored to your specific needs as a student, academic, or professional the subject matter is uniquely appropriate and compelling to you.
Lessons begin with a small game or warm-up activity; something to get you excited and relaxed. The bulk of the lesson practices at least two of the four major skills IELTS and Cambridge test learners on: reading, listening, grammar & vocabulary, and speaking. Younger learners can expect more games and interactive activities while more mature students can specify what skills they'd like to work on. I have access to a wide variety of Oxford Press textbooks, workbooks, audio CDs, and graded texts and films to keep students of all ages and proficiencies challenged and engaged.
I'm a CELTA-qualified teacher with over two years of experience teaching abroad and in Canada. I graduated from the University of Toronto with honours, majoring in English Literature.
Since receiving my CELTA certificate at the world-renowned International House London, I've travelled throughout the UK and Spain teaching young learners, adolescents, and mature students. I specialize in helping learners prepare for and excel in the Cambridge exams, Trinity GESE's and the IELTS. I also have experience with conversational classes, where the aim is to improve fluency and pronunciation.
I have over two years of teaching experience both abroad and in Canada. I've taught pre-A1 all the way to C2 Proficiency. The following is a list of the academies I have taught in, the methodologies I was trained in, and the types of classes (size, class structure, level, games-based or exam preparation) that I have taught.
