My primary objective is to not only serve as a guide for your compositional journey, but to also help you find opportunities for your works to be performed! We will be composing with music notation, as that is currently the most widely-used and versatile form of communication between composer and performer.
I strongly believe the compositional process to be unique for each individual, and this will be reflected in our personalized lessons. Our classes will be tailored to your level and interests.
I offer a wide range of knowledge regarding different classical and contemporary composition styles. We will explore topics of interest to you, and you may decide my level of involvement. I am comfortable with teaching structured lessons, providing feedback for your independent work, and everything in between.
Ultimately, you are free to do what you want, as to me that freedom is what makes music composition so special and intimate. I am looking forward to working alongside your inspiration and creativity!
I am an active composer in Vancouver, Canada and have been involved in citywide composition events since 2014. Many of my pieces have been performed live in festivals, workshops, and concerts.
I have experience in musical theatre performance as well as in Vancouver Opera. Since the debut of my composition career, I have been heavily involved with the Vancouver Academy of Music, and I play percussion in their symphony orchestra.
