« Hayya has been a wonderful tutor for my kids, in grade 6 and 8. My little one, particularly, has a terribly difficult time with math and my older child was struggling with science as well as some math concepts. Despite my best efforts, they just couldn't seem to grasp what was being taught to them. I was almost at my wit's end and didn't know where to turn next! Fortunately, Hayya came highly recommended by a trusted friend who had seen tremendous improvement in her kids' marks and overall understanding. I have not regretted my decision to reach out to Hayya once. From the very first session, Hayya engaged the children completely; truly getting to their level, establishing a strong foundation of understanding and interest, and then building up from there. I have never seen my children so excited about science, math, or learning in general and it absolutely astounds me that someone can understand, engage, and educate their students so thoroughly. »

Engineering graduate gives academic tutoring classes for elementary to high school students in Toronto

Methodology

I like to have a reciprocating structure, meaning I will give you a chance to explain your understanding in order for us to work together and learn the material! I say that in a classroom setting, the student can be as much a teacher, as the teacher themselves. I always try to structure material and time so that the student will lead as well. As mentioned, I have experience in running classes for many ages but if you feel that you have a passion for a particular subject and hindrance in another, I will go out of my way to make both courses better for your understanding. If you have a passion for STEM and the environment, then we can exchange even more ideas!

Background

I am a recent engineering graduate from McMaster University who is looking to provide academic aid to current students in the public school system. I have worked with students ages 4 to 20 and have extensive experience in leading summer camps through e2 Young Engineers Canada, after school programs through Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada, and providing workshops and training seminars through Engineers Without Borders Canada.

Hayya has been an incredible help since I entered high school. She makes the lessons so engaging and informative. If I'm ever stuck, she is patient and encouraging. You would be lucky to be her student!
