About the lesson
When I teach I want my students to see connections in chemistry that apply to the real world and their everyday lives. When connections are made, students can have a deeper understanding of concepts that set them up for “lifelong” learning. Project based learning, group collaborations, differentiated instruction, scaffolding learning, jig-saw group learning, and modeling are just some of the strategies that I use to facilitate a deeper understanding of the content being explored. When students have the opportunity for inquiry and discovery, they build enthusiasm and have deeper connections of the content.
Following these basic principles have helped me grow in my love for teaching and learning. I believe that my passion for science and teaching has helped me connect with learners. By using genuine enthusiasm, clarity, fairness, empathy, and setting high expectations effectively impacts learners, which ultimately connects them to their “passion” and lifelong learning.
