My class parts from the idea that ANYONE can learn how to draw with the right approach.
These classes are deemed for beginner and intermediate level students and anyone who wishes to work on their observational skills. Besides the technical side of the class, I also focus on building the confidence and knowledge through MAKING.
When I first talk to my students, I let them decide whether they want a project-based class, in which they decide the theme and/or media. In this way, I guide them closely from start to conclusion of each artwork or through exercises, of evolving complexity, assigned by myself. Thee start with graphite and charcoal drawing and focus on observation, line quality, and value exercises.
Art is for the brave and sensitive. I honor the effort and bravery of those who wish to learn or perfect their drawing skills by designing the lessons around their learning style and interests.

Excellent! I needed an art teacher to give me some accountability for a personal practice in drawing, and to help push my art to another level. My main goal in working with Erika was to learn how to draw faces and, more importantly, to learn *how to learn* drawing.
Erika did a great job of assessing my level and providing weekly assignments for me to work through. We worked together on Skype for an hour at each go, going over my week's work and then diving into the next subject. Her feedback was always well-reasoned and presented in such a way that it was easy to understand and grow from. Plus, she's very professional and just a good person, which makes working with her a joy.
I'd recommend her to anyone picking up a new skill in art or picking up art in general.
She is a very responsible and talented person, always willing to help along while having a great attitude. I couldn't recommend her enough.
Talented young lady with lots of experience and great attitude. She is a great teacher!
She really takes care of your technique, even tough I am able to choose the topics I want to work at, she always finds a way to do it while explaining a new topic, or just reinforcing what we've learnt so far. She is also amazing at pin-pointing the most amazing details of my work, nothing escapes from her. I'm a million times better because of her. Thank you!!!
I've been teaching people of all ages since early 2016 but started one-on-one classes in April, 2017. Since that time, I've had about eight students and three small groups (four people max).
Since my class also focuses on helping the students to feel comfortable and confident about their practice, these ease their way through those natural insecurities that come with art making. This allows the learning process to be smooth and for your mind, eyes, and hand to work and learn better.
We can have the class wherever you want to. In the past, I've met with my students at the library and even at parks and public places (especially for gesture exercises, fast sketching, and urban drawing.
Again, Art is for the brave and sensitive. I honor the effort and bravery of those who wish to learn or perfect their drawing skills by designing the lessons around their learning style and interests. I consider you a brave person just by considering to take drawing classes. If you are reading this, congratulations, you are brave.
