About Phoebe

I have spoken French since my family moved to France in 2003. I grew up in the French education system in which I completed my National Diplome du Brevet. I have also obtained my French GCSE and A level, so I understand how French is thought outside of its native country. I return to France frequently, so I am consistant in speaking the language.

I have been giving private French lesson since I moved to Plymouth in 2018. My service has been used by a variety of students seeking help in different areas. My proudest moment as a tutor was helping a fellow student pass his D'ELF exam in 2019.

I am a committed individual who is currently involved in a range international design and innovation activities. Throughout this engagement I have been apart of a mixed community of knowledge and have learnt the value of sharing information. Language has played a big role in this experience as I have encountered people from all over.

Communication is an important tool which is why I decided to teach French.

About the lesson

During the initial class I like to start with a basic introductory conversation to evaluate the level of French you are at. Together we can then discuss the best way for you to move forward for you to achieve your goals.

I always take the time to have a conversation with my tutee on a subject or experience to develop a wider vocabulary, grammar and structure.

Role play is a technique I like to use as practicing different scenarios can help you to think on your feet using the knowledge you have learnt.

Practice makes perfect! which is why I encourage my students to write daily about their plans, or an experience, anything that comes to mind. This routine gives you the opportunity to practice freeing up your French writing. This exercise also give me the chance to correct your grammar and introduce new vocabulary and phrases to evolve your French.

My aim is to boost your confidence and make sure that you are getting the most out of your lessons. At the end of each session I like to have a quick recap and feedback so I can plan our following session accordingly.

I give French lessons to help with:
- Confidence in Speaking French
- Beginners learning French
- Prep for school exams ( GCSE / A Level / Brevet )
- Prep for D'ELF exams

I am also happy to offer time to those who know French and simply want to have general discussions in French.
