About Yoav

I've been playing violin since I was 7, so about 14 years now. I began teaching at around age 12, and have taught both violin and viola on a need basis to neighbors, peers, and even some private students. I'm currently on track to graduate as a Music Education major from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and have taken many classes to help with my teaching habits and experience!

I love teaching and will give it to anyone who is interested and excited about learning, or needs an extra set of ears for feedback. My philosophy is based on the idea of repetition and emphasis on basics, as well as an emphasis on training harder but better. I believe that if you do something harder than is required, with proper guidance, you will learn leaps and bounds and find unique ways to overcome problems. I also emphasize performance of the self, advocating a huge sense of confidence in oneself and presenting always with a smile and grace.

Details

I would also not mind half hour lessons, however I would charge about $25 for a half hour session, as I believe an hour is the best time amount. As well, I don't charge extra for going overtime, as sometimes I might need a bit more time to finish up a lesson, though I will always respect your time and commitments. Most usually I would suggest 1 lesson a week, but will accommodate as needed.
