About Will

I'm Will, I'm 23 and I finished studying Chinese at the University of Edinburgh in May.

I have always enjoyed learning languages and have studied Chinese since I was 13. I also studied Spanish at GCSE and A-level since I have Spanish-speaking family and have grown up around them.

In terms of teaching experience, I have tutored English to Chinese children in London and Shanghai, as well as teaching for four months in a primary school in Taipei. I have taught Spanish informally to a number of students in the UK and in Australia.

I think that my experiences teaching both inside and outside the UK, often with non-native English speakers, has really helped me to understand the different ways in which students approach and study languages. I am open to tutoring students of any standard, regardless of their native language and educational background in the UK.

In my free time, I love sport as well as travelling. I am currently planning a trip to South America with a couple of friends to explore somewhere new as well as trying to learn some Portuguese in Brazil.

About the lesson

I have language teaching experience in London, Shanghai and Taipei teaching English, Spanish and Chinese.

For exam-specific study/revision, I have extensive experience across different languages at GCSE, A-Level and Cambridge Pre-U exam boards. I also have experience of teaching different age groups as well as teaching English to native Chinese speakers.

I am able to tutor Spanish and Chinese at both GCSE and A-Level standard. I am also able to help with university applications for students looking to study languages.

For my lessons, I focus on teaching good language-learning habits, understanding grammar and engaging with relevant vocabulary. Learning a language can be made fun by engaging with culture, music, sport, food and history. I have found that this helps students enjoy learning a language far more.
