About Yash

Hi, I’m Yash, an English tutor based in Rouse Hill, specializing in Years 7–12. I graduated from Normanhurst Boys High School in 2025, ranking 1st in my year and achieving 99/100 in my Year 12 trials, with an official predicted ATAR of 99.3 (actual ATAR reveal 18th Dec) I have over a year of experience tutoring both primary and high school students (and peers at school), helping them with assessment tasks, selective school entry, OC exams, and HSC preparation. Having transferred into the selective system myself in Year 9, I understand the challenges students face when studying a subject as "vague" as English is to learn sometimes. That's why I strive to provide a framework to not only help maximize their school marks, but also develop a deeper understanding & appreciation of the subject. My lessons focus on building confidence, improving writing, and understanding texts clearly, with a personal plan for each student so they can reach their best results without feeling overwhelmed.

About the lesson

Lessons typically run for 60–90 minutes, tailored to each student’s needs and goals. I focus on helping students understand content deeply, write with structure, and approach assessments with confidence. 1. General English Studies (Years 7–10) - Strengthening essay and paragraph structure - Analyzing and interpreting quotes effectively - Breaking down text types — poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and visuals - Learning to evaluate meaning within a text - Developing analytical and creative writing confidence 2. HSC Preparation (Years 11–12) - Module-based approach focusing on essay quality and structure - Detailed feedback to refine clarity, argument, and depth - Short-answer framework using the IQTVE method to maximize marks - Creative writing development for Module C - Timed practice and exam-style preparation 3. Assessment Task Support (All Years) - Personalized study plan for each assessment - Identifying key marking criteria and focus areas - Providing targeted feedback and actionable improvements - Sharing proven exam tips and strategies - Building confidence and readiness before submissions or exams
