Background

I am a major in Mechanical Engineering, completed a Masters in the same department from India. Currently, I am pursuing my graduate degree from the University of Alberta. I had previously taught fundamental concepts of mechanical engineering to engineering students during my Master's.

GRADUATE ENGINEER TRAINEE (July’16-ongoing)
Reliance Industries Ltd., Jamnagar, Gujarat, India
 Actively involved in commissioning activities of prestigious J3 project, an extension to the existing refineries which includes production of syn gas from pet coke and would double the market value
 Received various trainings regarding safety at work location from, measures to be taken in case of an emergency and how to convey the safety measures to the ground level work force
 Received fundamental training in technical aspects including chemical, electrical, metallurgy and instrumentation which are required for smooth functioning of a refinery
 Acquired basic knowledge in installing civil structure, piping layout design, rotary equipments (pumps, compressors and blowers) and their maintenance
 Designed a platform to accommodate pumps of different base dimensions on a single skid for easy maintenance, resulting in an efficient use of time, space and capital.
 Carried out a detailed study about the process flow of ETP and delivered a presentation at our team meeting headed by HOD, also raised concerns regarding safety of the ground force.
 Frequently interacted with the field workers and communicated them about the probable accidents/hazards by delivering toolbox talk and made them aware of the precautions to be taken while working.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
MASTER’S THESIS (July’15 – July’16)

 Prediction of anode shape formed due to Micro-Electrochemical Machining has been focus of interest in surface technology, tribology; investigated the effect of different parameters including hydrogen gas bubble volume fraction and sludge generated during machining
 Derived a spatiotemporal equation and applied two dimensional Finite Element Analysis to arrive at theoretical results using Matlab (Mathworks.co) as platform
 Generated an animation depicting the anode shape in space with time and validated the analytical results against the experimental results.
 It gives an insight about the tool to be selected to obtain the for desired anode shape; it can be further extended to multi-tool systems and surface pattern can be customized
 Presented this study on Research Scholars Day organised at IIT Kanpur which was attended by Mechanical Engineering faculty and PhD scholars.
SUMMER RESEARCH PROJECT (May’13-July’13)

 Explored various non-destructive techniques and dealt ultrasonic wave test method in detail; simulated wave behaviour at the boundary of the disturbance and executed real time animation plot of its path
 Demonstrated characteristic behaviour of longitudinal and shear waves at the interface applying refraction laws using Matlab platform;
 This can be used to analyse and predict the geometry of the disturbance and hence can decide whether the material under inspection can perform the desired operation or not
ACADEMIC PROJECTS
ROBOTIC PLATFORM WITH VIBRATION ISOLATION (July’14 – April’15)

 Radiation detection in unexplored areas is executed by using a detection device mounted on a mobile robotic platform where in, the surface ruggedness produce undesired results and may also damage the device; Designed and manufactured the suspension system to counter the undesirables
 Taking necessary parameters like mass and velocity into consideration, designed and formulated a half body model using Matlab to arrive at a specific spring constant for the system.
 Full body 3D CAD model is generated in Autodesk Inventor which is later used for manufacturing various components including bevel gears for 3600 rotation of detector platform
 Assembled the system with close tolerances and accelerometer is utilized to obtain the final vibration of the detector platform, net damping obtained is 60 % of the desired value.
 The mobile robot suspension system was utilized to conduct radiation detection experiments by Nuclear Technology lab; helped them in troubleshooting problems emerged while using it
MIXING PHENOMENA IN T-MICROMIXERS (Dec’14 – April’15)
Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, UP, India  Explored the working principle of micro-mixers focussing mainly on passive micro-mixers (no external excitation) and performed simulations in COMSOL.  Investigated fabrication methods, mixing principle and parameters affecting mixing performance of T micro-mixer  Member of a team in developing a micro-channel using PDMS, glass substrate and SU-8 resist.
ETCHING OF ALUMINIUM PARTICLE IN T-MICROMIXER (Dec’16 – April’16)
Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, UP, India  Aluminium Nano-particles are used as a very effective catalysts; Studied mixing of caustic and distilled water in a T micro-mixer where aluminium micro-particles are introduced to produce Nano-particles  Simulated the erosion of aluminium particle coupling mixing model with reaction kinetics model in COMSOL  Investigated effect of various parameters like channel geometry, stream velocity and concentration on the final size of aluminium particle which is used by a PhD scholar in formulating his analysis.
SWARM ROBOTICS, COMPUTER AIDED DESIGNING (Dec’14 – April’14)

 Designed and manufactured robots incorporated with arduino micro-controller, X-bee signal transmitting device, motor driver and line sensors.
