About Ryan

Hi, my name is Ryan, and I am a high school senior with nearly a decade of guitar experience, having started in 4th grade. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to consistently improving my technique, musical understanding, and performance skills, with a strong focus on acoustic and Gospel guitar. Through disciplined practice and real performance experience, I’ve developed not only technical ability but also confidence and stage presence.

I am a hardworking and patient individual who believes that growth comes from consistency and the right guidance. I have performed in front of live audiences and alongside experienced musicians, which has taught me professionalism, preparation, and attention to detail. These experiences allow me to understand what makes a guitarist stand out — strong timing, clean transitions, musical awareness, and reliability.

As a tutor, I take my role seriously. I come prepared, organized, and committed to helping each student progress at their own pace. Having started from little to no knowledge myself, I understand the challenges beginners face and how to overcome them effectively. My goal is to create a supportive, motivating environment where students feel confident, capable, and excited to grow as musicians.

About the lesson

My approach to teaching is structured, encouraging, and results-driven. I focus on building strong fundamentals first — proper hand positioning, timing, rhythm control, clean chord transitions, and strumming consistency — because technique is the foundation of confident playing. I break down complex skills into simple, repeatable steps so students never feel overwhelmed.

A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up to strengthen finger control and dexterity, followed by technique work (chord progressions, strumming patterns, timing exercises, or scale practice). We then apply those skills to real songs — primarily Gospel, but also acoustic, contemporary, and light classical pieces depending on the student’s interest. I also teach students how to read tabs effectively and understand basic music theory so they’re not just copying songs but actually understanding what they’re playing.

My lessons are designed for beginners to intermediate players who want to improve technique, strumming precision, rhythm, musicality, and overall confidence. I teach once or twice a week to allow students enough time to practice and develop between sessions.

What sets me apart is my real performance experience. Having played alongside professional guitarists and niche celebrities, I understand what skilled musicians look for — timing, feel, discipline, stage presence, and musical awareness. I started with little to no knowledge myself and worked through the struggles, which allows me to relate to students and give practical solutions to common obstacles. I’ve also learned from multiple guitar teachers over the years, so I know which methods truly help students progress and which ones slow them down. My goal is not just to teach songs, but to help students become well-rounded musicians.
