My teaching methods are completely catered toward the individual. I try my best to ensure that each person can feel comfortable first with me and the course I am teaching before I engage in full on lessons. Biology is a knowledge based course meaning that the great majority of learning comes from understanding and memorizing concepts. Unlike Physics or Chemistry which incorporate a lot of practice questions and applications, biology's examination focuses on regurgitating factual knowledge as well as the application of learnt knowledge in different scenarios. My approach to teaching high school level Biology is a mix between a holistic and atomistic: it is important to understand a topic individually, but it is more important to learn how the individual topic links with the rest of the biological spectrum. For example, if tutoring an individual on human physiology, I would first teach each system by themselves ( circulatory, excretory, respiratory, etc.). After the individual has grasped the concept of each individual system, I wish to stimulate their application of knowledge by connection each system to each other. The holistic understanding will allow students to think outside the box and apply their knowledge in a more realisitc setting.
I am a recently graduated high school student a part of the International Baccalaureate program at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. I have a predicted a score of 38 and have taken higher level Biology, History and Chemistry. I am a very approachable high school student, and have a good understanding of high school level sciences. I also have experience tutoring a wide range of children from 6 to 16 years old.
If a lesson is to be cancelled, I require at least 24 hours of notice. Any last minute cancellation within 24 hours will receive a 50% partial refund.
