My teaching methods are diverse and flexible. I like to tailor my practices to the student and to the subject. For instance, in large groups, I like to foster creativity and community by working with a peer-to-peer model where students are allowed to explore their own understandings of the subject matter without the pressure of a traditional classroom. When working one-on-one, I see it more as a conversation than a lecture.
I am a masters student at the University of Victoria completing my Masters of Arts in economics. I have a background in the performing arts, having taught musical theatre at the Chilliwack School of Performing Arts and private vocal lessons. I sit on the UVic senate committee on Learning and Teaching, through which I keep up to date with the current teaching techniques and pedagogical practices.
