I work collaboratively with students to assess their vocabulary/pronunciation challenges, and find creative ways to address those challenges through targeted vocal exercises and readings. I enjoy helping my students to improve their communication skills through a lively discussion of culture and current events. Students are often asked to read aloud using material tailored to students interests, including some of the best current journalism and literature available.
I taught Social Science and ESL at York University (Toronto, Ont.), and completed my MA in Japanese Literature at the University of Toronto. I am a writer, and have several years of experience in private english tutoring. I enjoy writing poetry and practicing Zen meditation.

Perfect! Louise is an excellent teacher and really easy to get along with. We had a few months of zoom lessons and I can really feel the progress.
It a lot easier to read out loud for me now, and I became aware of many-many words that have different pronunciation than what I thought.
Roman is a careful listener and keen learner. He is refining his speech to be more accurately Canadian English.
Perfect! Louise is a great teacher. She is knowledgeable, patient and professional. I really enjoy my learning experience with her.
Sahar is an enthusiastic student with great long-term goals to work toward in her skillful and proficient use of the English language. She needs to listen for native-speaker syllabic emphasis and mimic that to most improve her fluent communication in English.
Perfect! I've had a great learning experience with Louise. Since I was obsessed with my poor English skills, I used to be less self-confident and shy, making it more difficult using English, especially speaking. However, she really has patience and an interest in who I am and pulls out the story inside me that makes me want to tell something more and more. Definitely, she is a wonderful teacher and I highly recommend her as a tutor!
She's keen to increase her English language fluency, and concentrates and uses her curiosity to help her to that goal. She's fun to work with, and a diligent student.
Perfect! Excellent teacher, patient knowledgeable.
I highly recommend Lousie , she would be an excellent choice for any person working on accent reduction and pronunciation.
so far Claudio has been unable to appear for a lesson.
I have known her nearly 10 years through work. She has a lot of knowledge about teaching English, health and nutrition and being a great mentor. Particularly, she has taught me English pronunciation which all Japanese Student faces difficulty. When I couldn't get the sound, she always breaks the sound easier for me to pronounce, and waits for me to get it patiently.
She speaks and reads Japanese, even complicated Kanji very well but she only uses her skills to speak and read Japanese when our lessons were finished or necessary situation when we were studying.
She is very friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and very fun! She is also very calm, makes others calm and peaceful so students are easy to absorb what she teaches and explains.
I highly recommend to learn English with her and to be a friend with her!
Louise is a thorough, patient teacher, with an empathetic and responsive teaching style. She educated me and my two sisters at home, and always found ways to make learning fun, engaging, and approachable. She has an intelligent and literary approach, and gave the three of us lots of excellent reading material to help us discover different subjects. She has an elegant understanding of the English language, and would be an excellent tutor.
Yes, I highly recommend Louise! She would be an excellent choice for any ESL learner or person working on accent reduction. I have known her for decades as a skillfully engaged teacher in many different situations and a lover of language and learning in all its aspects. You will find her to be extremely trustworthy, respectful and sensitive to individual learning styles, at ease with students of all ages. As well, she has a deep appreciation of other cultures and for the difficulties of acquiring an additional language, with an especially good knowledge of both Japanese and North American language and culture.
I have known Louise for many years. She is an inspiring person and teacher with an encouraging manner and a dedication to teaching and learning. I have seen her teach and counsel people struggling with learning and life issues and know her to be both competent and kind. Louise's students will be working with a teacher who is reliable, trustworthy, energetic and knowledgeable. I highly recommend her.
Louise is a highly professional, experienced and delightful teacher. Students of all ages love her and thrive.
