About Sophie
I am currently working as a Primary school teacher, teaching a mixed age class of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children.
When completing my undergraduate degree and my PGCE, I specialised in teaching Early Years children aged 3-7 and gained a clear understanding of the importance of those first few years of a child's schooling and how this is when the key foundations for learning are built.
I have a particular interest in reading and the progression of this. I have experience preparing children for the statutory Year 1 Phonics Screening Test, with high outcomes, and also an understanding of the Year 2 SATs tests.
My passion for teaching is evident, with my lessons being planned to excite and engage the learners in order for them to reach their full potential.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, being with animals and travelling. I am planning on completing my TEFL course in order to teach abroad in the near future.
