My teaching method is interactive and experimental. As soon as I hand hold the students to a comfort level around me, I start working on their confidence to perform the given tasks independently. I am compassionate yet firm in an effort to build an air of friendliness. I would rather be a facilitator rather than an instructor.
A teacher of writing and literacy needs to know each student's competencies. I use the Socratic approach, encouraging both answers and questions. The student's age, literacy level, education, occupation and goals determine the beginning. Depending on class size and duration, concepts involving structure, theme, planning, plot, character development, designing your essay.
I use somewhat interactive methods to encourage students to engage in the lesson materials. This can include anything from hands-on activities, live readings, games, and video presentations. I will also have students work on developing their inner voice through the write-up of reflective pieces, poetry and other artistic development projects.
I have been tutoring students from between the ages of 4 and 17 in a variety of subjects for 5 years. I have mainly tutored in essay writing, reading comprehension and English literature. However, I have also tutored in elementary and high school mathematics, along with high school biology and chemistry. As a tutor, I enjoy teaching through a lecture and conversational style.
If you're looking to better your English speaking skills (including the likes of pronunciation, enunciation, grammar, sentence structure, and even spelling if need be) by engaging in thought-provoking and interesting conversations, then look no further. Our meetings will consist of conversation. It is the most effective, and my personal favorite, way to teach.
My teaching methods are to assign books and form a discussion group around the books. As well, I will assign short essays in order to determine the level of the writing of the student to better assist them. My classes are meant for any level of high school.
I understand that everyone learns differently, and I adapt to each student's needs accordingly. If a student needs more time learning a certain concept, I make sure to spend extra time on that concept with them to ensure they understand and can then move forward in their learning with confidence.
My teaching methods include: - Analysing and understanding Job postings and descriptions - Expanding vocabulary for resume and cover letters - Creating appropriate and personalized resumes and cover letters My aim is to equip students with the necessary skills to gain confidence and independence.
I prefer discussion-based learning. I want to engage in conversations on what you are learning and delve further into the material to deepen your own understanding. If you present a novel or text, we will outline key points (characters, themes, settings, etc.) and work through why each is valuable to the whole work.
I prefer to teach one-on-one. Having planned and conducted tutorials for groups of 20-25, I find that doing face-to-face work lets me understand my students' needs in a much more efficient manner. I also prefer to work via Skype/online, mostly due to travel constraints, though I'd be willing to negotiate this based on transport/distance. My classes are quite structured, but not rigid.
Since I am a recent grad I draw from my own experience. When helping students with written assignments and research projects I like to get an idea of what their class is like and what expectations the teacher/prof has in order to help them achieve the best result possible.
I believe that students need to be excited by their learning. If there is something that they are not enjoying I believe that there is always a way to make learning exciting. Learning and school should be fun, exciting and should meet the student's needs.
My strategy are determined mainly on the subject matter to be taught. I aim to see that every student learns and understands the subject. I have been taking tutions to middle school students with 2 batches of 7 students each. I am dedicated and proactive with a strong commitment in high quality educational standards that develop the potential in every child.
Every student is different, everyone learns in their own style and at their own pace. I fit my teaching accordingly to help you in the best possible way. The way I set up a session would be completely individualized to your needs.
My teaching methodology is to engage the student into the lesson. Starting off with a flexible schedule in order for the students to build trust and gain confidence with the tutor. I often use real life examples during lessons, in order to maximize an engaging lesson. I enable student to bring past work from schools, so the lessons can reflect the school lessons.
I meet you at your level and get to know you as a learner and a person. We build a teacher-student relationship based on trust, fun, engagement, and delight-based learning. We have fun and explore your needs and focus on your strengths to make you the best learner you can be.
I follow the Montessori pedagogy in fostering independence which can be used for both children and adults. I have a calm approach to teaching that includes giving students time to think and explore their options through the lessons. I am extremely organised and find it easy to create lesson plans and long term educational goals to reach throughout classes.
I briefly outline my lessons and course outcomes. I lecture on specific topics encouraging the students to learn by research. In addition to set lessons, I bring in other relevant texts to provide the student with the full context of what he/she is reading.
I design sessions for Gr 3-Adults based on student need determined through an initial assessment. Sessions are scaffolded with lots of discussion and practice to solidify learning. My classes range between 45 mins to 90 mins depending on student's age.
My teaching methodology is deductive: learning paths can be taught so that in the long learn the student becomes an independent learner.I believe that in a language class student participation is utmost important and that learning should be interesting and fun. If the student loses interest, he/she stops learning.
My teaching philosophy is focused on a non-traditional, student focused, inquiry based method. I believe that encouraging curiosity, facilitating the advancement of knowledge and encouraging creative thinking helps students understand the impact of language. Engaging students with interesting topics and giving opportunities to speak are imperative for learning.
I believe that all students learn differently, and that said, each student may need something different from me. As a teacher, it is my duty to ascertain how each student learns from me best, and individualize their needs based upon this assessment.
When I was an undergrad I found it hard to study and relay information, until I went to an empty lecture hall, and just started teaching what I was studying. Memory consolidation works best when you learn in your words.
My methodology is fun and easy to follow and my classes are student-centered, engaging and interactive. I use various technological aids to help make my lessons easy to follow and work at student's pace to help them build strong foundations in English Language.
My teaching methods are based on patience, and getting to know each individual because everyone learns differently. I will hone in on each person's strengths and weaknesses, as well as the way they operate personality wise and be sure I offer them an individualized learning plan.
I tailor all my classes to the learners I work with. I have experience using behavior modification to get the most from all my students. I use a lot of hand on material in all of my sessions.
My name is Chelsea Caeiro and I am an Occasional Teacher in both Hamilton and Halton District School Board.
I am an occasional French and English teacher who often fills in for months at a time for maternity and sick leaves at the high school level. I am very passionate about story telling and ready to transfer this passion to students to facilitate learning. I have a very flexible schedule up to August 9th and I have my own car. I charge 20$/hour.
I have wanted to be a teacher from the moment that I entered junior kindergarten at 3 ½ years old; the well-used chalkboard hanging on the wall of my childhood bedroom will attest to that. From the moment I was old enough to, I volunteered myself for as many opportunities to work with children as I could.
I base my tutoring sessions on the needs of the specific student. I like to have a discussion with both the parents and the child in order to gain more insight on those specific academic needs. I like to build a positive and fun relationship with my students based on mutual respect and a positive attitude toward learning.
