As a tutor to a person who has difficulties with learning, I believe I have to make a strong relationship with that person first. After communicating and making sure that my student is relaxed, I start my teaching. I begin with asking them questions as I patiently listen to them, while I correcting them if needed.
I work with students to see what their strengths and weaknesses are and I like to work with each student on an individual case by case basis as each student learns differently. I enjoy getting to know students likes and work them into my classes.
Through the extensive experience which I have gained from tutoring in both a job and volunteer aspect, I am able to effectively encourage and coach a student through their learning process. I also have excellent resources and strategies for teaching which I have acquired and adapted throughout my years of tutoring.
I am a very patient teacher and I like reading and helping others to read.
I approach helping kids differently depending on their needs.
I am an open-minded and happy person always up for new possibilities, studies and self-development. I had been working for seven years in kindergarten, also I am well experienced how to provide physical and mental development for children and toddlers living with developmental disabilities.
I usually base my classes/sessions on what the child needs help with the most . My classes will always attend to the work or areas that need the most attention. Each class will depend on the child and his/her's needs.
I use research-based strategies for learning and tailor my instruction to each student's needs and learning style. I like to get to know what you excel in and what you struggle with, what type of learner are you (visual, verbal, kinesthetic, logical?), if you are a minor I like to speak with the parent and the child on what areas we should focus on.
I believe the role of education is to prepare students for the world outside of school. Children have been given more responsibilities at a younger age in today's society. In order to provide education to these children, schools need to be a place where students, as well as their parents, feel comfortable.
I like to teach to my students needs. It is important to me to know my students well enough to develop my lessons to best suit them. I have much experience teaching students of all abilities and am very capable of designing lesson plans to suit the needs of all.
My teaching methods vary depending on the child. Every child is unique and therefore learns uniquely. I feel as though it is important to first get to know your pupil, and then decide on a plan to ensure progress and success.
Throughout my undergraduate degree (BSc (Honours) major in Geology), I took diverse university-level classes including calculus, applied math, chemistry, and geoscience. I found I enjoyed the problem-solving assignments and was even good enough to teach my classmates during lab/tutorial sessions.
My approach is student centered...assessing their current knowledge base and building on it. Lessons use all 3 learning pathways: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Each lesson is individually crafted to match the student's needs. Anyone struggling with reading (from Kindergarten to adult) will benefit from this approach.
My methodology is to alter learning goals to fit each and every student I work with. To ensure that every lesson is customized to that particular students learning style. I believe that given the right tools and materials every child is capable of success.
I don't have very static and standardized teaching methods, due to the fact I'm very aware of people's specific needs, background, questions and doubts that can appear during the tutoring process, and especially the way HOW do they learn things. Although regarding methodology, I'm based on methods such as Bloom's Taxonomy, Problem/Project-Based Learning, etc.
Online video conferencing one to one. For Reading, we use a direct instruction method that is accepted by school boards all over North America. For ESL, I have developed a methodology that I train executives in. My partner has tutored special needs children in Direct Instruction methodology for 17 years.
I base my classes on the individualized learning needs of the student, I aim to establish a positive relationship with the student in order to promote a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.
I am a spoonful teacher yet demonstrative. I want my students to learn by their own with just facilitating them or giving them directions. I also listen to their weaknesses so that I can help them and make those weakness into strength.
I am fondly called Nelo. I love teaching children on the spectrum, especially ASD. I have also worked with children diagnosed with Down Syndrome, Congenital Heart Disorders, Cerebral Palsy and Learning Disabilities. I base my classes on routine and structure, especially for hyper active children but on the other hand, child centered or a flexible approach is adopted to make learning fun.
For Children and Youth who are struggling with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges who are at risk for school failure or on an adapted or modified academic program Play Based Learning Teaching Self Regulation and Motivational Strategies Reading Remediation and Comprehension Strategies Develop Understanding and Insight of Mathematics Using Concrete Materials
My primary tutoring sessions begin with activities geared to nothing more than getting to know my learners. Future lessons are geared to the interests of my students. Each session begins with my students reading a book they find easy to read. Next, my students will participate in an engaging activity designed to improve a reading skill that my students found difficult in the previous session.
I help a student find herself or himself the right answer by probing and prompting. I find it creative and interesting way to transfer the know how. To get student to participate to their full potential, I am fun and try my best to use fun, not boring examples.
I am a student-centered type of teacher. i teach based on the different needs of my diverse students. I approach a subject with passion, patience, and determination because I believe that every child with special needs can learn not by snatching their works from their hands, but by helping and giving more time for them to learn.
My methodology is to first teach the necessary skills, then to apply those skills to real life situations. I place much importance in how to write an essay. I have found that Ontario teachers do not adequately teach how to write a clear, well researched essay. I also teach how to read for meaning.
I use multi-sensory and interactive teaching methods to help students learn according to their own individual styles. I work 1:1 with students and no two lessons are ever the same. If a student needs help with spelling or reading, I will first find out whether the difficulty is visual or auditory or whether it's a question of having missed out some basic learning foundations.
