I am an education student at McGill University. I am studying Secondary School English Language Arts, and History. I see myself as a constructivist teacher, meaning that my lessons would be very student centered. I also strongly believe in the dialogic method, in which the teacher continues to ask students questions, and lead them to the right answer. As a teacher, I'd like to be a facilitator and someone who offers guidance, not someone who gives all the answers.
I have been tutoring for about 4 years. I have tutored both on a volunteer basis, and at a tutoring centre. I have tutored all kinds of different learners; elementary, high school, and CEGEP level. Every student that I have tutored has shown improvement, and more importantly, a lift in attitude. There's no better feeling than seeing a student smile when they do better, and knowing that it is because of your help.
Lessons that are cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will have to be paid in full.
I am graduating from McGill University with a Bachelor of Education this year. I am applying for a Masters degree in Educational Psychology next fall. I have worked in tutoring centres, and have already taught at 4 different schools as a student teacher in English Language Arts and History and Citizenship Education.
