I base my classes on adaptive teaching styles. I take the approaches that I developed for myself in university to succeed, and apply it to the style of my student. I don't believe in memorization. I believe in long term understanding and connections that build a base for the student to grow off of. A typical student of mine will completely understand the basics before moving on to more complex ideas so that in the future learning will become easier, and more intuitive.
I studied at McMaster for 6 years (4 academic years, and 2 years of coop experience) and graduated with a Bachelor of Technology degree, an advanced diploma in Biotechnology, and a management certificate. Over the course of that time I gained a strong background across all fields of Biology including: Molecular, Cell, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Immunology, synthetics biology, and of course Biotechnology in depth.
