My teaching method varies depending on the subject and the student. It is based on the core principals of the subject when it comes to technical subjects like maths and sciences, but more on the subject when it comes to creative works. For technical subjects, I like to focus on the basics and make sure the student understands the core principals or the “rules of math” as I like to call them, or scientific definitions, because there is clarity in the rest once these are understood deeply. The same can also apply to leading French language or English language writing practices. For creative projects, I like to prompt the subject and help them in coming to an idea, and then brainstorming alongside them to develop that idea further.
Aside from the technical aspect of tutoring and teaching, I enjoy first connecting with my students in some way and making them feel comfortable and confident in myself. Even if it is a simply conversation about their day at the beginning of a session, these moments can change the tone the session for the better.
I am a graduate (2020) of mechanical engineering from the University of Toronto, focusing on energy and fluid dynamics, also with a minor in engineering business from the Rotman School of Management. My math and science skills for tutoring at the elementary and high school level and undoubtedly some of the best, as I have a deep understanding of the base principals and rules of mathematics and can explain how and why they make sense. Given my education and experience, I can also provide lots of reasoning as to why a certain concept may be important or useful in a real world application!
I have worked in the HVAC industry during my schooling for almost a total of 24 months with a company where I designed systems for new condo suites in downtown Toronto, as well as other projects.
I danced from the age of 3 to 18 in a variety of styles and in my high school years, I was an assistant for many classes for younger students. In my final year, I taught extra classes for students who required extra preparation for an incoming ballet exam.
Alongside all of this and more, I have spent countless hours tutoring my two younger brothers at home from elementary school all the way up to grade 10 currently. I mostly help them with math homework, however I also proofread their assignments, help them make creative projects and presentations, and assist with any troubles they have in any subject.
I also had taken French courses in school until grade 12 and have a fairly good working proficiency of the language, especially when it comes to reading and writing!
