Medical Student offers Pharmacy lessons for university students in Abbotsford, British Columbia

Methodology

My teaching methods include creating a lesson plan for my students in which I am able to address their previous weaknesses and fix the previous holes in their knowledge. This way they have a sturdy foundation that they are able to fall back on for future problems, and future courses. I try to make my sessions as interactive and open as possible. I encourage my students to ask questions so they can solidify their own understanding, I will also ask my own questions to ensure they are able to understand key concepts and theories. My lesson plans include extra time at the end of each lesson for the student to ask me any questions they may have had while covering their lesson, and anything they feel as though is not clear for them. As a tutor I want my students to have a sturdy foundation, and a comfortable learning environment where they are not embarrassed to ask questions.

Background

I am a student studying Medicine at the University of Sydney. I have 6 years of post-secondary education and have completed a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at The University of British Columbia. I have a combined 5 years of experience working as a tutor/coach in academics and sports. I have helped teach Pharmacy, Social Studies and Muay Thai to students in a one-on-one and group setting. During my undergraduate degree I helped out as a peer tutor, where I aided the teacher on making lesson plans, answering questions where it was not possible to get to in class, and making sure that the students understood what was happening for the day. I also helped teach my students how to professionally counsel patients on their medications, and prepared them for their future OSCE. I also have experience as a peer tutor for high school students where I helped students who were struggling with understanding course content, and helped make lesson plans for the day with the teacher. I was present within the classrooms as a second resource to the students so they would be able to address any and all issues they had. As a Muay Thai coach I helped push my students past their limits through constructive criticism and positive feedback, I worked with my students continuously and pushed them to their limits with rigorous workouts, while making sure they maintained proper form and technique, all while never letting them give up.
