I am very detail-oriented, patient and flexible. I base my classes on four core principles that I believe are necessary for a positive learning environment:
1. Making sure we're enjoying ourselves and growing at the same time.
2. Making sure we're both learning from each other, as a student and as a teacher.
3. Making sure you (my student) have more motivation every time you have a lesson with me.
4. Making sure we're helping each other gain confidence, express ourselves and find out what makes us special.
In my piano lessons, I am perfectly comfortable teaching classical, modern, film and pop music. For other genres, I require my students to be willing to learn to read music properly as I don't teach/play by ear or chords only. If you want to play a song so badly, and there is no sheet music available, I'd offer to write it for you for free :)
In my vocal lessons, I mainly focus on teaching you how to free your voice, breathe properly, do physical and technical warmups, improve your vocal abilities, expand your range, and express your unique style. I am classically trained however I believe when you receive the proper vocal training, you can try many genres and styles as I discovered pop, jazz, and blues to be as challenging and sometimes even more fun! If I have the time, I'd offer to accompany you on the Piano or possibly teach you to play and sing at the same time :)
In my music theory lessons, I focus on reading music properly, the simple math behind every rule, rudiments, ear training and solfege (pitch and sight singing).
I am an urban designer/researcher by day and a music instructor by evening (and on weekends :D). My true passion in life is producing knowledge and sharing it with others in any way that I can. I just moved to Montreal from Toronto, and I cannot wait to meet my new students in this beautiful city!
I have been playing the piano professionally for 21 years, singing in choir for 16 years, and singing professionally for 6 years. I started giving private piano, music theory and voice lessons 8 years ago and have worked with students from 5 years old to 70, in both private and group sessions, from complete beginner to Royal Conservatory of Music piano and voice certificate. I have prepared many students for recitals, musical theater, and group performances and do enjoy accompanying them on the stage if we have the chance!
I have had the opportunity to work with thriving music studios such as StudioVivian, Sarv academy, and Pars institute in the recent past, and have the privilege of being a part of an amazing network of people who are passionate about music, knowledge, and having a good time!

Kiana is a wonderful teacher and she taught me how to play the piano. She is a great teacher because she listens and helps me solve the problems I faced while I was learning the piano. I enjoyed all the classes I had with her.
Patient, smart, and always makes learning fun. A great teacher!
