I teach my students on a case-by-case basis with no set plan, forming each student's lesson plans around their goals, experience level, and technical/repertoire needs. I like to evaluate my students holistically, considering the whole person outside of the vacuum of a voice lesson - taking in their emotions, body, and background, not only in singing, but culturally, academically, and family/peer wise as well.
I am a university music student majoring in voice performance, specialization in classical voice. I have a strong background in classical voice in several languages, as well as Pop, R&B, Soul, and Musical Theatre. I'm looking for students at any age and experience level looking to learn to love singing.
I charge my students different rates depending on their experience level, aptitude, and goals/needs. I like to hold a meeting/trial lesson for a student, free of charge, before they decide on lessons. I am very flexible and am willing to compromise with students, especially should they require some sort of subsidy to their lessons by virtue of financial need. I also consider a student's age when deciding a rate. With younger child to preteen students, we are less likely to do plenty of heavy lifting, so to speak. We're more likely to practice becoming comfortable with wider concepts of singing. Becoming comfortable singing in front of another person, and learning about pitch, rhythm, and volume. For more experienced students, looking to drill through repertoire or do plenty of difficult work on their pieces or technique, the rate will change. My starting rate is around $20-30 (flexible) per hour of lesson, and lessons will vary in length depending on the student.
