About the lesson

I have wanted to be a teacher from the moment that I entered junior kindergarten at 3 ½ years old; the well-used chalkboard hanging on the wall of my childhood bedroom will attest to that. From the moment I was old enough to, I volunteered myself for as many opportunities to work with children as I could. The older that I got, the more responsibilities were presented to me, and the more my passion for education grew. From the moment that I entered my first practicum classroom as a Teacher Candidate, I knew that I had found where I belonged.

This same sense of belonging that I felt upon my first experience as the teacher in the room is what I hope to emulate in my own teaching. I believe in creating a caring community that focuses on and encourages collaboration and cooperation. I believe that every child deserves to be educated by a caring and empathetic professional who is dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming community in which they can thrive. Students that are under my tutelage will be encouraged and empowered to learn how they learn best, to increase their levels of empathy and to focus on global citizenship.

I also believe that it is the highest calling of educators to never stop learning. It is because of that belief that, even though I may be finished with my formal education, there is always something new to learn, and that is something that excites me greatly.

I am an OCT certified teacher just entering the profession. I posses a Bachelor of Arts degree where I completed a double major in English Language and Literature and History, graduating with honours. I also recently graduated with a Bachelor of Education in the Intermediate/Senior stream (Grades 7-12), graduating with distinction.

Details

I do posses a vehicle, so I am more than willing to travel farther than the 10 km listed above, however, for such a case, I would require travel compensation of $0.50 per km.

Additionally, if I need to purchase any materials in order to assist your child, I will invoice these costs to you. This situation is unlikely as I have several resources of my own, however, should the need arise, this is my policy.

Additionally, if you wish or need to cancel a lesson, I do require 24 hours notice, especially if I am to be travelling to your home or an agreed upon location. If this policy is followed, there will be no charge for the missed lesson. Failure to provide such notice will result in a charge for the missed lesson.
