About the lesson

I enjoy helping students learn and understand chemistry by focusing on fundamental concepts and critical thinking, avoiding rote memorization. My goal is to help students learn to solve problems by themselves, so tutorials are interactive. I engage students by asking questions and helping them think through the examples and problems.

I offer both as-needed and regular sessions in a variety of formats. In some formats, the student provides the material, and in others, I provide the material and practice problems.

Online sessions are done through audio/video calling and an interactive whiteboard that has no lag. Notes are sent to the student after each session.

About Laura

I graduated from UCalgary with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry (GPA 4.0/4.0). I completed various research projects while a student and worked 1 year in the USA as a research scientist in medicinal chemistry. I am now dedicated to full-time tutoring.

My specialty is general and organic chemistry which includes organic synthesis, spectroscopy, mechanisms, medicinal chemistry, industrial organic chemistry, and chromatography.

I have several years of experience as a private tutor for high school and university students, both online and in person.
