I mainly teach and perform classical music, but also enjoy teaching jazz and popular styles! I believe that musical progress and learning happens best when students are able to maintain a healthy balance between fun, creativity and focus during a lesson, so I encourage my students to explore music that they are passionate about!
I use the RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) and Conservatory Canada examination systems for late beginner to advanced students. For complete beginners, I use the Faber Piano Adventures Method books.
In addition, I make helpful worksheets and homework assignments for my students to supplement the books they are using.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Piano from the University of British Columbia, where I received the Catherine Cooke Topping Memorial Medal upon graduation. I have played piano for almost 16 years, and I started teaching in 2010. I have taught music with Beethoven at Home, Dominelli School of Music, Dauk Music, and Elite School of Music.
I am currently an Associate Instructor of Piano at Indiana University where I am also pursuing a Master's Degree in Piano!

Perfect! Amanda is great. My son enjoys taking lessons with her. She is very professional and also very dedicated to her teaching role. We are glad we found her.
In today's trial lesson, I heard Mana's son, Deon play through a piece that he had previously learned, as well as some new pieces (Beethoven's Für Elise) and scales (C major and G major). It was a pleasure to meet Deon and his parents and get a sense of what level he is currently at. I look forward to seeing you guys next week! Thank you! :)
Perfect! I really enjoyed the class with Amanda, she is super nice and helpful, lots of encouragement and happy to learn with her!
The lessons with Miao went great! We chose to use the method book titled "Piano Adventures" (adult version, volume 1) for our lessons and also discussed some songs that Miao would like to work on. These included Yiruma's River Flows in You, Pachelbel's Canon in D, and Summer by Joe Hisaishi. Miao is a great student and a fast learner and I can't wait to continue working on these new songs together with her! :)
Perfect! Amanda is a great teacher! She provides a nice balance of encouragement and constructive feedback. She assigns helpful drills to improve technique and gives thoughtful suggestions. Amanda is helping me prepare for my grade 9 RCM piano exam.
Lessons with Annie are going great! She is very dedicated and enthusiastic, and we are working towards preparing for a grade 9 RCM exam for next year!
Amanda helped me learn my favorite songs fur Elise and river flows !
I highly recommend Amanda for piano lessons. She is great for any age, young and old. Amanda was very kind and took the time to teach me everything she could in the short while we had together.
My 8 year old daughter has been taking piano lessons for six months from her. She tells me she has loved it and describes Amanda as follows: Amanda is very understanding; she listens and she is fun! Also she is challenging in a good way. Amanda was punctual and reliable and my daughter looked forward excitedly to her lessons. We went to one of Amanda's recitals and it made a big impression on my daughter.
Amanda has been tutoring my daughter in Piano who we are hoping taking the Grade 6 piano exam this year. She has a bachelors in Piano and other post graduate courses (I am doing a bad job of her degrees in Piano). She has traveled and had scholarship for Piano in Europe and plans to do her Masters in Europe. She is thoughtful, kind, honest, and caring. You can ask for her Youtube piano concert that she has performed.
