About the lesson
My teaching method includes various tools and practices which I have seen first-hand help students improve. I will be using platforms such as Quizlet, Prezzi, Powerpoint, and more to ensure that lessons are engaging for students as I hope to help my students discover the beauty of literature and improve their grades. Although I have a pre-planned teaching schedule, each of my students will receive a personalized educational experience suited to their needs and goals. Whether one of my students is struggling with the absolute basics of English class or simply needs guidance on writing advanced academic essays, I am here to help.
Ultimately, for any student, I believe that practice makes perfect when it comes to the study of literature. There will be a strong focus on learning to analyze, write, and, if necessary, orally discuss literature. Having studied English formally and reading all my life, I have experience with a wide breadth of works ranging in genres, periods, and authors.

I am in the midst of earning a dual honors degree in English and Creative Writing from Concordia University. I have a 4.0 GPA and earned a place on the Dean's List at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where I studied for one year before transferring to focus on my writing in a more specialized English program. I have also participated in acclaimed intensive writing programs at Brown University and Kenyon College, where I fostered my creative writing skills and furthered my fiction and poetry studies. I earned the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma in high school and was awarded Honor student status from grade nine to graduation. I also received a perfect score on the ACT reading section and am well equipped to help students studying for the ACT. Finally, I served as Editor and Chief of my high school magazine, Perennial, where I led writing workshops and managed a team of fifteen students.
For four years, I tutored students in grades three to four who struggled with literacy disabilities. Many of these children struggled to read picture books, but by the end of my lessons with them, almost all my students progressed to reading chapter books and catching up in class!
