Finally, I have 15 years of enthusiast experience in music technology.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, I had a clean CRB disclosure certificate issued to me in May 2012. Please ask me if you'd like to see it.

I teach computer programming, music technology and other related skills.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I like to teach anything to do with technology. If you don't see your subject listed here, contact me anyway! The great thing about technology is that skills are usually transferable. I may still be able to help you achieve your goals, or troubleshoot your project with you.
Computer programming: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, C#, Python, SQL, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Scratch, C, Objective-C, Java
Academic subjects: GCSE Computing
Music Technology: Max/MSP/Jitter, Ableton Live
End user training: Wordpress
- Tell me about your qualifications.
BSc 1st Class Honours degree from Salford University's School of Computing, Science and Engineering.
DipHE in Music Technology from London College of Music and Media.
Please ask if you'd like to see my certificates.
- How much do you charge?
Lessons are charged at £40 per hour.
There may be an additional charge if you want me to travel to your location – please contact me to find out.
I invite all students to begin by booking a initial lesson of 1 or 2 hours. This will give you the chance to assess my teaching style and decide if I'm the right tutor for you. If you bring your laptop, it's also a good time to get everything set up on there so you're ready to start programming.
Students who wish to continue with a regular lesson at a regular time each week will be asked to commit to a block of lessons and pay for them in advance. I will then reserve these time slots specially for the student, and no one else will be able to book these times.
Because I reserve these time slots specially, advance payments are non-refundable. Therefore, I ask students (and parents), before making a booking, to look ahead to the upcoming weeks to check for any events, holidays, or appointments that will clash with their weekly lesson time.
For students who must miss a booked lesson due to illness or other unforseen circumstances, I will instead use the lesson time to review any work the student has done since the last lesson, and set them some more tasks to do for the next lesson. This can be done by email.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from my study in East Finchley where I have two large screens and lots of desk space.
I can also teach at your own home or other choice of location in nearby areas:
East Finchley N2
Highgate N6
Muswell Hill N10
Crouch End N8
I may be able to travel to other areas - please contact me and ask.
- When are you available?
I teach on weekdays, all day long.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach anyone who has a hunger to learn! That includes school children, college students, experienced programmers adding a new skill to their toolset, professionals looking for a career change, and hobbyists/enthusiasts.
Unfortunately it is quite difficult for me to help university students with their assignments, especially at short notice. The problem is finding the right balance of help, and making sure I don't end up doing the assignment for them, which would almost certainly be against university rules. I usually advise university students to just give their assignment their best shot on their own, and speak to their tutor if they're going to have problems completing it on time.
In some cases I can help undergraduates and graduates by teaching them the skills and knowledge they need *to complete the assignment themselves*. The key thing is to contact me as soon as possible! Learning programming takes time and patience - it cannot be done in a week!
I own my own Raspberry Pi computer, and offer lessons to budding young programmers who own a Raspberry Pi and need some help getting started.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am pleased to offer online tutoring to students around the world.
Here's how it works:
First we have an initial meeting on Skype, for us to discuss your goals, for you to ask any questions you may have, and to check that we have a reliable Skype connection between us. If you're happy then we'll book a date and time for our first session.
Lessons then take the form of a 'webinar' - I will share my screen with you so you can see exactly what I am clicking/typing as I take you through the lesson. I'll demonstrate the techniques you wish to learn, and talk you through each step. It's a two way process - at any point you may interject with a question or ask me to expand upon something. You can also share your screen with me and show me something you've been working on and need help with.
Payment is made by bank transfer (or PayPal for international students - PayPal fees apply), and I require students to pay for at least one hour of tuition in advance before the first session.
Contact me today and let's Skype!

Patrick gave our nine year old son a great introduction to the concepts of coding and certainly helped him see that maybe he could do more with a computer than just play games.
Patrick is highly organised and delivers his duties to a high standard. I found Patrick well prepared for each lesson. I really managed to improve my technical skills thanks to Patrick's tuition plus other techniques to solve common problems. The course material was very good and the overall outcome of the tuition was very satisfying. I would recommend Patrick to everyone.
Our final project at college included coding a small Flash game for a website. After starting the lessons with Patrick it made me confident into doing this project which I was very confused and lost about. It helped me a lot with coding and I've learned different aspects of coding which I did not learn at college. I wasn't into gaming as it wasn't my strongest point, but after learning with Patrick it inspired me into wanting to create more games in a wider perspective.
Patrick has spent some time tutoring me on getting up and running on Wordpress. He was clear, informative and effective. He clearly knows his subject well and has a gentle and reassuring way of imparting information so you don't feel stupid whilst you learn.
Happy to recommend him to anyone in this capacity.View more recommendations
