Methodology
I begin by seeing what the background of the students is and asking them what they find challenging. I try to encourage students to take ownership and to provide feedback. I use different approaches to accommodate different learning styles. Every lesson begins with a review. I use lecture, worksheets, group work when possible. I try to relate the topic to everyday experiences. I try to make classes fun and explain the relevance of the material being taught.
Background
I have a PhD in chemistry, BEd, and have been teaching high school, adult education, college and university level students chemistry for 25 years. I taught a two day continuing education course to people working in industry, government and academia on analytical methods at several locations across the country. I hold honours specialist qualifications to teach chemistry.
