About the lesson

I believe the best way to build a memorable and successful language journey is to leverage off the interests and goals of the students. The first lesson with students usually starts with a general introduction, where I can get an understanding of the student's unique background and interests, as well as their past language learning experiences and language learning goals. This helps be tailor each lesson to a format which is most appropriate to each student, and I encourage students to give feedback into lesson structure to inform the ongoing language learning journey. Lessons typically include the use of both authentic and prescribed materials, based on each student's requirements (and sorry, yes, there is homework!).

About Saskia

I am a professional creative writer and producer, and have experience in writing for a number of contexts, both academically (for sciences and arts), and within other commercial, marketing and creative contexts. After completing my Bachelor degree on scholarship, I am now working professionally at the same time as undertaking a post graduate degree in education, specialising in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I am an Australian and native speaker of English and specialise in guidance for people living in Australia, or for those who intend to visit or immigrate to this wonderfully welcoming country.

With a strong interest in languages, I am also a language student, and have studied languages including Japanese, Chinese and Farsi. This allows me to have empathy and understanding with the challenges of the language learner journey, and also support language learners by building connections between their target language and first language.
