About the lesson

I’m a linguistics and English language consultant who has been supporting students, businesses, and lifelong learners since 2004.
We all use language every day, but the science of how language works can be a maze of arcane academic theory.
I help learners understand difficult technical concepts through clear examples and plain language.
I provide teaching, support, and consultation in all areas of linguistics and the English language.

- Comprehensive knowledge of the English language, including grammar, vocabulary, etymology, word usage, register, and style
- Advanced knowledge of linguistics, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, sociolinguistics, field linguistics, historical linguistics, psycholinguistics, and language acquisition
- Experience helping students with degree planning, organization, and time management
- A helpful teacher attitude, supporting clients in achieving their goals
- A love of learning and sharing a wide general knowledge of history, geography, culture, philosophy, and science

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field

I've always been interested in exploring mysteries, and languages are like puzzles and secret codes. And it mixes well with my interest in travelling the world.

  • 02

What makes you passionate about your subject?

Linguistics is at the intersection between art and science. Languages are windows into whole new perspectives on the world.

  • 03

What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

I enjoy talking about interesting subjects, hearing new perspectives from students, and seeing that "Now I get it!" reaction that every teacher loves.

  • 04

Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

My high school music teacher showed me what a great teacher can really do in inspiring, guiding, and supporting his students.

  • 05

What are your keys to success?

Form a vision of the life and world I want, and connect each of the small steps I need to take to this bigger picture. Conduct myself with integrity, sincerity, and courage.
