About Jen
Education:
I have a first class BA (hons) degree in Fine Art: Painting and Printmaking (graduated 2020) from The Glasgow School of Art, and I gained an A* in A level Art and Design. I am now working as an artist based in Scotland, with my work spanning animation and film to painting, printmaking and clay work. I have exhibited in Glasgow and New York and have upcoming group exhibitions at The Centre for Contemporary Art in Glasgow and at Have a Nice Day Gallery in Seoul later this year. I am currently a member at Edinburgh Ceramics Workshop.
Tutoring/Creative Work Experience:
I have over 1 and a half years of teaching experience which includes teaching arts and crafts in person as well as online. Alongside my art tuition I am also an online English teacher for primary school aged children. I have worked with people of all ages and abilities and I worked as a support worker for adults with learning disabilities for one year. I have also worked on a collaborative project with artists from Project Ability (a supported artists studio in Glasgow) for 8 weeks and currently work for Edinburgh Art Festival.

I approach teaching through a desire to share my knowledge learned at art school, focusing on one to one support and individually tailored classes to improve confidence, creativity and technical ability. I like classes to be honest, nurturing and supportive with time for questions and a chat as well as hands on, practical learning. I also am keen to share ways in which you can make your art practice more sustainable and eco-friendly.
I am very flexible with my classes and acknowledge the wide variety of learning approaches, abilities and styles so I make sure to tailor each set of classes to the individual student! If you don't know where to begin, I have a complete beginners course which will guide you through different creative processes and help you begin to think and make like an artist. All classes are offered on a week by week basis so there is no pressure to commit to a certain amount, allowing for maximum flexibility for you as a student!
I have lots of experience in a wide range of mediums and offer practical support with the following:

Printmaking (linocut, woodcut, monoprint)
Clay and ceramics
