Before I do anything, I take time to listen to my students and try to understand where they are at and where they want to be. I am very capable of approaching problem solving from different angles, as everybody has a different approach to learning. I will focus on your strengths and be patient with your difficulties. I also will try my best to make the lessons fun for you and me.
I understand if you need to cancel a lesson. Life happens. Please do your best to let me know as far in advance as possible. If there is a pattern of last minute cancellations, I will work with you to address the cancellations and to come to an agreement about a cancellation fee.
I have a fairly diverse background in many different areas. I am currently studying speech-language pathology at McGill University (Master of Science (Applied)). I hold two degrees from the University of Toronto: a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in linguistics and Russian language, and a Master of Arts in linguistics. My areas of interest include bilingualism, syntax, phonology, and Slavic languages.
Professionally, I have gained experience in many different fields. I have several years of tutoring and teaching for: private organizations in Canada and Russia, the University of Toronto, and several volunteer organizations. I have also worked as a wildland firefighter, a Parks Canada surveyor, a crew leader for a vegetation management crew, and several other vocations.
Personally, I enjoy travelling, travel hacking, exercising (currently training to run a marathon), and spending time outdoors with my wife and my dog.
