In general, many academic programs ask students to write, but fail to teach them how to turn an idea into an essay. You're left to figure it out on your own, when you're already struggling to keep up. In addition, many professors and other university resources refuse to help with essay development until you can provide a draft. However, often the first draft is where you are stuck!
I can help, even if all you have right now is a half-baked idea. I help students locate themselves in the writing process, and share evidence-based approaches to overcoming challenges they're likely to experience at each stage. I can help you develop your work using proven techniques to manage emotions around research and writing, and find ways to organize your research and ideas to relay your message to your professor with clarity and precision.
I am a PhD student with a background in religion, philosophy and communication. I have supported university students with their course work and writing for 8 years as a teaching assistant, and recently acted as the coordinator of Writing Services at Carleton University in Ottawa, ON. In the latter role, I worked with graduate students and undergraduate students in a wide variety of subjects.
