About the lesson

What students love about my style is that I can simplify difficult concepts, make them easy to understand and retain. In one hour I can cover more material and allow you to truly comprehend it than you could have imagined possible.
My style includes asking lots of questions, letting the student develop his/her own thinking strategies. Students appreciate the visuals I provide them with, including concept maps, diagrams, and simple drawings, which can be more effective than long tedious text.
My lesson is divided into sections, which can maximize the learning benefits for you. We start with a revision from the last session, we move onto the content of the new lesson, then we may watch a short video about it, after which we'll solve practice questions, and finally, we sum up what we did during the period.
I will email you any soft copies of notes we take, questions we solve, or links to videos we watch.
I thoughtfully plan a lesson beforehand and no time is wasted.

About Alaa

I have a master's degree in epidemiology, a BS degree in biology, and have been teaching for over 11 years. I have experience teaching grades 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. I have given tutoring lessons in SATS to university-level students and have taught adults. I've instructed science, biology, math, chemistry, and English.
I'm energetic, I love my profession, and I teach from the heart. I love having a good laugh and not taking things too seriously. Students feel comfortable with me asking any question they want. I also have experience teaching in different countries, cultures, and curricula.
For the past two years I've been teaching online, I know my way very well around computers, technology, and software for e-learning. You will really feel like you're getting maximum value for your buck!

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

I just love anything related to science, I enjoy the thinking process, the adventure of learning something new, and the passion for exploring new ideas. I studied epidemiology and biostatistics which was a perfect domain for me because I loved to learn about biology as well as math.

  • 02

What makes you passionate about your subject?

I had a curiosity since I was young, I wanted to know how everything works. I finally found answers in the scientific domain. I felt like I belonged in the scientific community. I love teaching anything related to science because I can show the students the value of what they're learning. I can show them how it relates to daily life and how it can benefit them.

What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

I love tutoring because of the feedback I get. It is so fulfilling when a student thanks you from the bottom of their heart and tells me that I've been a great help. Teaching comes naturally for me, I understand the learning style of my student right away and I custom make lesson plans to help them reach their goals. I am a superprof because I am at the top of my field, I preplan, and I am proactive

Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

I had a professor in my third year of university when I was doing my bachelor's degree in biology. He was harsh, strict, and moody. I knew that's exactly what I didn't want to be when I became a teacher.
But, I loved him because he was a genius in his field. So I ventured out to combine being kind, sympathetic, understanding, while at the same time being an expert in the material I'm teaching. I visit him from time to time and let him know he was the reason I became involved in the academic and teaching field.

What are your keys to success?

I work from my heart, out of passion. I am not financially motivated. The students can tell right away that I actually care about them, their learning journey, and their results. I feel like I make a great tutor because I can adjust my teaching depending on the student's learning style. I'm also very organized, punctual, and professional. From the first lesson students know they're getting the best of the best, and they appreciate that. People who hire tutors are investing in themselves and they want to feel like they're getting value for their money- and I deliver.
