I stress concepts and the application of physics and math concepts to sample problems. I first go through the concept then a worked sample problem and then have the students work through problems themselves. The last step is the most important and is best done one on one if the student is having problems. Since physics uses math as a tool to get a solution, math concepts may need to be reviewed. Each student will have different weaknesses and so I keep my tutoring plan flexible.
I have a PhD in Physics from the University of New Brunswick, an MSc. in Physics from the University of Waterloo and my BSc. is from the University of Saskatchewan. All through my graduate work, I taught labs and tutorials. I have taught for 10 years at the University of Lethbridge which is known for its Undergraduate teaching.
