In addition to learning the fundamentals, my lessons encourage students to explore their ideas more deeply: What we are trying to say and why? How can we express an idea visually?
Tailored to your artistic goals, lessons typically (1) focus on one or two key concepts with demonstrations, (2) involve a project that utilizes these concepts, and (3) reviews material and assesses work through constructive critique.
I also help students with their art school entrance portfolios, personal projects, and school assignments.
Lessons are held in a home studio or online
I have a certificate in drawing and painting from OCAD and an MA in philosophy from Ryerson University.
For the past year I've been giving art lessons and organizing drawing and painting groups with other artists. The individuals I've worked with show a significant improvement in the accuracy of their drawings.

Cailin’s a gifted artist and great teacher. She’s knowledgable, talented and patient, everything you’d look for in an instructor.
Cailin is a hardworking, disciplined, and thoughtful person. She has plenty of experience teaching at a university level, and puts in the work to make sure her students are as engaged in the material as she is. I've known her for several years and am amazed at how quickly she makes personal connections with new people. She has grown as an artist with a strong attention to detail and tactful critique. I would absolutely recommend Cailin as a teacher in fine arts.
Cailin is extremely talented, patient and articulate! These qualities combined makes her a great and positive motivator and teacher!
I would highly recommend Cailin! She is an amazingly talented artist who has so much knowledge. She’s great to work with and has an abundance of patience. Her teaching style is very easy to follow, even with no previous experience. She can bring out greatness in your art.
Cailin, in my mind, represents the best qualities of a teacher.
First, she is passionate about art - whether it is her own work or others. Her love for art (the process and the finished product) is refreshing and inspiring.
Second, her dedication to work is immense. I can't count the amount of times I've seen her work late into the night to get that one thing in a piece where she knows it needs to be. I am confident her work ethic could benefit any artist (just starting out or in need of a tune-up)
Third, she is an affirmative & constructive critic. Whenever I've been stumped in terms of how to proceed with a piece, she has an incredible eye for what makes a work shine and what can be improved or done differently.
Overall, seeking her out as a teacher can be a fruitful first step to gaining confidence in your work , developing your talents and having a supportive mentor to build your craft.
