My name is Taylor and I am a 4th year Biology student at UBC. I hope to tutor public school and highschool students, as well as lower level university students.
I look forward to teaching effective and strategic studying skills to all of my clients and help them to excel in their subjects.
The way that my teaching structure is like is always different for each student. The reason for this because I know that everyone learns differently and requires different methods of explaination.
I personally feel, and have been told by others, that I am exceptional at listening and allowing others time to explain themselves. I also have unconditional patience and promise to use this when working with my students.
My moto: There are NO silly questions
This will be my third time being a tutor!
I was once a math tutor for a neighbor who was in grade 7, and I was a peer tutor in my high school grade 9 math course. All students that I mentored felt more confident in their understanding after receiving my guidance. Most of all, they did exceptionally well on their assignments/ quizzes.
I always want to make sure that the student is satisfied. So, the first lesson will be free (up to 60 min) and if the student would like to continue then my rate is 20$/ hour.
Hello! My name is Taylor and I am a 4th year Biology undergraduate at the University of British Columbia.
My classes are intended for public school, high school, and lower level undergraduate students who are looking for help in cell biology, genetics, microbiology, physiology and mathematics.
My teaching style consists of finding the source of the confusion and using a variety of methods to explain the concept. I always alter my teaching in order to suit the student and encourage interactive learning.
Practice problems are a terrific way to challenge one's understanding so I always try and encourage students to bring them so that we can work through them together.
Finally, I like to solidify the students understanding by making "study sheets" with them. This is a sheet that contains all the information that a student needs to know for an upcoming test in a condensed and organized form. This is a technique that has helped me through all of my university degree and I look forward to sharing this method with other students !
