About Simran

I am a practicing architect, have been giving ukulele and singing classes to 5-year-olds, 25-year-olds, and 72-year-olds. Have performed in college, at live shows, dinner parties, and in competitions. My forte lies in Western music and singing. I have a 3-year degree in Indian classical music as well.

About the lesson

For music, all i require is for my students to be diligent and patient. Muscle memory guides and helps you in learning faster. Practicing daily to get ahead the obstacles is the best way to learn music. Ukulele helps set up base for learning other kinds for string instruments as well

Perfect! Simran is a very patient and bubbly teacher. My 6 year old loves her lessons with Simran, she is currently learning Western singing however will move on to hindi and punjabi. Simran is a very capable professional and i highly recommend her.

Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
I've been learning music since I was a child. My parents have always been inclined and always had a positive outlook in regards to me learning music. My school was the first place to participate in music events and I haven't been able to stop since then.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
Teaching is something I've always wanted to do. Not just music but academics as well. I plan to be a professor of architecture while teaching music side by side. My mother has been my inspiration since she gave tuitions to kids when she was young and continued it throughout my childhood.
How does your work help society?
Music is something that helps you convey your feelings, and also increases focus and patience. In today's world, with everything at our feet, music teaches us the importance of hardwork.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
I've had a temporary teacher in my college. She was quite young and didn't have much experience. but the way she taught her subject with enthusiasm and being so patient and helpful made me look up to her. I try to always be patient and enthusiastic while teaching, because learning should never be stressful. Learning should make you feel excited, not tense about keeping up with the subject.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
I'm an architect, and I plan to pursue further studies and start applying for a teaching job in colleges. Apart from music and architecture, I love to paint and draw.
Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?
I have students that are 5 years old and students that are 78 years old. The one thing that's common between them is that they think that the other age groups learn faster and easier, which is actually quite contrasting to the reality. Only passion drives learning, age has nothing to do with it.
