I am a 3rd year UBC student and native English speaker located in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, offering tutoring services in high school, AP and university level English language and literature. I acknowledge that each student presents a unique background and learning style, and I am more than happy to adjust my teaching style accordingly. Rather than simply providing a list of responses to memorize, I believe in providing tools and "hints" that will allow students to reach conclusions independently. Practice tests and essays are a big part of my approach. I also incorporate insights from my background in psychology and behavioural neuroscience to help students learn effectively and efficiently.
I've been tutoring my peers in English and a variety of other subjects for over 5 years. I received a "5" (highest possible score) in both AP English Language & Composition and AP English Literature, as well as straight A's in my university-level English courses, and now I'm ready to share the resources and study habits that will help my students achieve the same results. I have also developed and taught creative writing workshops for adults struggling with major mental illness and substance use disorders.
