About the lesson
My teaching methods fall primarily within a communicative approach. I work collaboratively with my students to identify their learning objectives as well as find a learning style that is impactful and meaningful to them.
A pillar of my teaching philosophy and practice is creating a safe, comfortable, and fun learning space for my students (of all ages). I want my students to feel empowered and supported at all stages of their learning journey.
I base my classes on my student's formal learning objectives within the communicative approach. Within the ESL field, the Canadian Language benchmarks are a key resource I often use to guide lesson planning and development.
I approach a subject with a combination of structure and flexibility. I go into my classes with my students with a firm lesson plan, however I always make sure there is room for adaptation and flexibility as we may encounter opportunities to change our perspectives or approaches that may better suit my students' learning needs or styles.
