Waterloo Physics student with 3 years of high-school (IB) tutoring experience teaching math, physics and chemistry lessons

About the lesson

My teaching methods are tailored to better explain the ins and outs of a topic by emphasizing the underlying concepts that build up to a deeper understanding of any given subject area. Because of nature of topics such as Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, I place a bigger focus on the process and mechanism behind a problem rather than the final solution itself. While reaching the solution is important, especially for academic purposes, I believe that a thorough understanding of how the solution was reached is essential for identifying and applying the methods used in various situations that may come up later.
Once both the techniques used to solve a problem as well as the subtleties and details of a topic are understood, I believe that the subject in question can be better known as a whole.

About Akash

I am an IB graduate currently enrolled in the Honours Physics (with co-op) program at the University of Waterloo. As an International Baccalaureate student, I have achieved a 7 in Math, which equates to a 97%-100% in the traditional OSSD curriculum, and 6s in both Physics and Chemistry (out of a maximum of 7) which equates to a 93%-96%.
When recieving my OSSD diploma, I was awarded the 'Ontario Scholar with Disctinction award' which signifies that I have achieved higher than a 90% overall average during my grade 12 year. I was selected along with 2 other students from my high-school to travel to and tutor middle-school students as needed.
