Monitor application deadlines closely - many scholarships require you to complete application packages by strict deadlines, so ensure they are marked in your calendar.
Write application statements early: the last thing you'll want is to be stressing over a short essay the day before applications are due. Start writing as soon as you know what the success criteria are for each award.
Build a strong personal and academic background: volunteer in your community, maintain academic excellence, and engage in activities that will make your application strong.

International students at English medium schools, for example, may find they need additional academic writing support for help in writing research papers or getting through challenging readings.
